Padabhyanga (Foot Therapy)

Padabhyanga is the traditional Ayurvedic practice of medicated foot massage using warm herbal oils. Rooted in the principle that the feet contain vital nerve endings and marma (energy) points connected to every organ system, this deeply therapeutic practice improves circulation, calms the nervous system, and restores whole-body balance.

Recovery

Padabhyanga is deeply relaxing - most patients feel immediate relief. A course of 7–14 sessions is recommended for chronic conditions, with maintenance sessions monthly.

Treatment Approach

Warm medicated sesame or herbal oil is selected based on your doshic constitution and health concerns. The therapist applies rhythmic, firm strokes to the soles, heels, ankles, and lower legs, systematically stimulating marma points - particularly Talahridaya (the heart of the foot) - which are energetically linked to the brain, heart, liver, and kidneys. Sessions typically last 30–45 minutes and can be combined with a warm foot soak in medicated decoctions for enhanced effect.
